There are many fabulous places in the world to live and the place we call home offers stunning natural beauty and tranquility in an ideal location. Melbourne Australia is regularly voted one of the best places to live and the Dandenong Ranges is Melbourne’s mountain retreat.
The Dandenong’s are just a 45 minute drive east out of Melbourne and include the villages of Sassafras, Olinda and Mt Dandenong on one side of the ridge and Belgrave and Kallista, heading into Monbulk on the other side. Traditionally known by Melbournian’s for the lush fern gullies and towering Mountain Ash, Devonshire teas, quaint B&B’s, the Skyhigh Observatory, the Cuckoo Bavarian restaurant and iconic Puffing Billy Railway, the Dandenong Ranges still offers the tradition but with a whole load of new and wonderful experiences!
Weekends are a busy time with the hustle and bustle of tourists enjoying the unique shopping strips, cafes & restaurants, galleries, relaxation services such as massage and the parks & gardens of the Villages of Mt Dandenong.
To truly appreciate all that is available to see and do in the Dandenong’s, visitors could spend many days exploring. And for my vote, you can’t go past a midweek escape and experience it like a local! Midweek visitors can truly take the time to enjoy all that the Dandenong Ranges has to offer.
