Puffing Billy is a century old steam train that was built to serve at the turn of the century and is a genuine relic of our more leisurely days. The Railway is the major survivor of four experimental lines used to develop rural areas in the early 1900s.
The journey aboard Puffing Billy takes you through the magnificent Dandenong Ranges, through lush fern gullies and Mountain Ash trees towering overhead, Puffing Billy makes for a wonderful opportunity to relax and breathe in the fresh air whilst the train makes its way through the temperate rainforest.
Step back in time whilst dangling your legs over the side of the carriage - a favourite activity for kids (and adults!).
Couples can enjoy a different type of Puffing Billy experience by having lunch aboard the First Class dining carriages. Other special events include and Santa Special events, Dinner & Dance Trains and Murder Mystery dinners!
Come along to soar through the treetops of the Dandenongs on an array of flying foxes, tight ropes and tunnels! A 2 hour session (including training) through the obstacle course will have you laughing along with the kookaburras.
Once Wurundjeri nation land, the estate now spans eight hectares of mostly forest alongside the Puffing Billy station in Belgrave. It features rare trees, including a magnificent 150-year-old Algerian Oak, used as the ‘Home Tree’ for the tree top adventure courses, the gigantic Sequoia that rises sixty metres above the earth and two Chinquapin – the only known Japanese oaks in Victoria.
